I've managed to get my LAN connection working once by using system restore, installing latest network card drivers, disabling and enabling 6to4 network adapter, then suddenly connection appeared. However after restarting PC it was gone again, seems something is blocking it Friday, March 14, PM.

Actually, I've tried just about everything What fixed it in the end was re-installing Vista Ultimate I am on a HP Compaq Presario V CTO recently my "HP wireless assistant" stopped working at the same time I was having error 31 on the 6to4 adapter when clicked on to update was told - "cannot download updated software" attempted to uninstall and reinstall 6to4 adapter as this thread said - now the 6to4 does not exist anymore and I still have no access to the HP wireless assistant any suggestions fess.

Ok so i did all that stuff with the uninstalling and re-installing of the drivers, but i still get the same error and it doesn't solve my wireless problems.
I've actually been having this problem for over 2 months already and im sick of having my laptop wired all the time. Thats not the reason i bought the laptop in the first place. I want it to be portable and thats not really making it possible. Can't Microsoft undo the update with this specific driver? I believe that this is a huge problem and it needs attention. Would have uninstalled it if it hadn't worked at that point 3.
Did the cmd prompt as administrator and issued the netsh in 6to4 set state disable 4. Rebooted computer. Wednesday, July 9, PM. Thursday, July 17, AM. Lionel, Thanks for your comments and the explanation - although I must admit that they are unsatisfactory - since the reason I went into Device Manager was that I began to have network and USB problems after an MS Update patch can't remember which one now or I would uninstall it!
It looks like many others are still having problems and the only "coincidence" is the same error! From my limited skills in searching the internet - it appears that the problem is somewhat widespread and that others are having similar problems at the same time Click Continue if necessary. Repeat the step 2 to uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus controllers". Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically.
Step 5: Update the motherboard driver to the latest version from the manufacturer website. Note: Please check with the motherboard manufacturer before installing the driver.
