This game was originally released on Dreamcast but was rereleased on GameCube after Sega's platform failed.
The game is an arcade-style video game that features several party games and mini-games. This game was super well-received and was even considered one of the best games of GameCube's launch lineup. Super Monkey Ball allows up to four players, so grab some friends and let the fun begin! One of the most popular gaming franchises of all time is, of course, Mario. This franchise has been broken down into many smaller gaming series, such as the Mario Party, Paper Mario, and the like.
All of these games are widely popular and well-received, and Super Mario Strikers is no different. In this game, two teams of 5 battle it out on the soccer field, attempting to score goals. If a player can make enough perfect shots and passes, they will earn the ability to "superstrike" which can earn them 2 points if successfully completed.
Another popular game from the Mario franchise is Mario Superstar Baseball. In this game, players can compete against a friend after crafting their own all-star baseball team. Each popular Mario character is equipped with their own baseball strengths and weakness.
Of course, it wouldn't be a Mario sports game without special powers. In addition to baseball fields with special features, each of the main Mario characters has their own special abilities. So pitch playing this game to a friend and hope you don't strike out! Though this game released in to mixed reviews, it is worth giving it another shot. The gameplay involves characters moving around a game board and competing in mini-games between rounds, similar to Mario Party.
The difference is in how the characters move. Whereas Mario Party relies on dice to move forward, in Pac-Man Fever the amount of steps a character takes depends on one's placement in the mini-game.
One thing is for sure though, no one can claim you won this game due to a lucky die roll. The Mario Party series remains one of the most memorable multiplayer games on the GameCube. Many modern fans of the franchise would argue the older entries were, in fact, superior to modern games in the series. Well, it doesn't really matter. Each one is someone's favorite for some reason or another, but the core appeal of each game remains the same. Roll a dice, move on a board, steal coins, steal stars, and win.
The biggest difference is which game has which mini-games to play, which remain the real highlight of the franchise. But if you're with friends and have a few drinks, this may be a great way Often overlooked both at the time of its release and today, Custom Robo is a mecha role-playing game.
While there is a single-player adventure, the arena fighting multiplayer is a mode that remains fun even fifteen years later. You build a robot, set the against a group of friends, and have at it. Although Donkey Kong saw some flops on the platform , this bongo bashing game sure wasn't one of them. Revered as an underrated classic of the Gamecube era, Donkey Konga had 4 games all centred around grabbing a friend and a Bongo and bashing out some hit tunes together.
Today's fans haven't let those Bongos go to waste either, using them to take on the bosses of Dark Souls 3, and even other players in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare all by busting out a jam. Banana Slamma! The Rogue Squadron trilogy are some of the highest-ranked Star Wars games around, with the first releasing on the N64 and PC back in and the second and third seeing an exclusive release to the Gamecube.
The third and final game Rebel Strike is still fondly remembered today for its cutting-edge graphics , range of vehicular and on-foot missions, and, of course, its incredible two-player, split-screen mode.
This allowed players to go back to the story mode of Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rebel Leader and work together on the missions with a friend, and quickly became one of the game's major selling points and best-loved features. Future Perfect was the third game to be released in the Time Splitters series, and unfortunately, the last to ever be released before Free Radical's dip into administration.
Nevertheless, Timesplitters still remains one of the best-loved 3D co-operative first-person shooters to ever hit home consoles, and with good reason. Following the story of Timesplitters looking to destroy humanity, this time-travelling masterpiece is played through worlds and levels rather than one whole story and is well remembered for poking fun at the action movies and other games of the early noughties.
However age-old fans can now rejoice, as sources show Free Radical have reformed with the sole purpose of bringing the game back to life, but whether this is through a new sequel or HD remaster remains to be seen. Despite being the worst-selling Zelda game due to poor marketing, The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure was a unique multiplayer experience that dazzled and delighted fans new and old for its fun Minish Cap style and dedication to a whole new co-operative Link experience.
Needing once again to restore peace to Hyrule, Link and his three clones journey to destroy Shadow Link and Ganon for good on a Hyrulean adventure that allowed players to take part via GBA-link, a gimmick that may have put it ahead of its time back in the noughties, but has since held it back from ever seeing a re-release on future Nintendo consoles. It's one of the Gamecube games fans most want to see back on their screens, as Mario's illustrious sporting career took him from the baseball field to the golfing greens and finally onto the pitch for a cooperative goal-scoring masterclass that even gave some of the best soccer games around a run for their money.
Although a sequel, Mario Strikers Charged, did release onto the Wii back in , all's been quiet on the football front for Nintendo ever since, much to the chagrin of fans. However, with the recent return of Mario Tennis and Golf perhaps another Strikers game could be closer to fruition than we think.
Sure, it wasn't one of the Gamecubes best-looking , but Timesplitters 2 was easily one the best GameCube co-op games ever seen in the early noughties, and many fans favourite in the trilogy. Put into life from the team behind N64's Goldeneye, Timesplitters 2 allowed four friends to play through its world-hopping storyline together and featured an all-star group of characters and some truly hilarious dialogue that saw it collect a fan base that still thrives to this day.
It's a must for multiplayer and first-person shooter fans, and we can only hope whatever the newly formed Free Radical has up their sleeves lives up to similar hype. The second best-selling game to ever hit the Gamecube, Mario Kart: Double Dash was a hot new take on the karting classic.
